The pioneering brand has grown a reputation for both head-turning character frames and timeless spectacles with unique luxury detailing. Hollywood stars, world champion athletes and discerning entrepreneurs are big fans, with the likes of Cate Blanchett, Jamie Foxx, Kim Kardashian, Nicki Minaj and of course the eponymous Dita Von Teese adorning their faces with DITA sunglasses. Seven-time World Champion sailor Peter Burling and globally acclaimed acrobatic pilot Kirby Chambliss also count themselves amongst the brand’s ambassadors and work closely with DITA engineers to develop eyewear that can withstand their high-intensity demands.

But how did DITA become one of the most sought-after eyewear brands on the planet?
Founded in 1995, DITA eyewear was the brainchild of childhood friends Jeff Solorio and John Juniper. Despite having no experience in the eyewear industry, the pair shared a passion for photography and design and recognised a gap in the market for luxury eyewear inspired by classic Hollywood glamour and the opulent designs of the mid-20th century. Using cutting-edge modern manufacturing techniques, Jeff and John crafted their first collection and launched DITA eyewear.
DITA got its name from pin-up model and burlesque dancer Dita Von Teese. She met founded John Juniper in 1993 and agreed that he could name an eyewear brand after her. She modelled the first prototype and has been involved in numerous brand collaborations since.

DITA takes a radically different approach to designing its frame collection, drawing inspiration from the eclectic worlds of film, sports, alpine climbing, industry, shipping, motor vehicles and aviation. Designers are encouraged to experiment with technology and materials beyond the typical remits of eyewear – an innovative approach that feeds into the brand’s unrivalled dedication to craftsmanship and cutting-edge manufacturing techniques.
Each pair of DITA sunglasses and DITA eyewear is designed in Los Angeles and handcrafted in Japan by highly skilled artisans using 18k gold, titanium, white gold and acetate known as Japanese Zyl – a superior and sustainable material that can be polished to DITA’s idiosyncratic high gloss finish. Patented technology is employed to meticulously create each collection, from the ultra-thin acetates of the DITA Featherlight range, to the stainless steel metal core lamination of DITA Laminates. A new partnership with Aston Martin Red Bull Racing has also cemented DITA’s reputation for F1 standard eyewear.
