Randolph Engineering Eyewear

Randolph Engineering eyewear is a distinctive brand known as much for its style as the unique heritage at its heart. Founded by two immigrants, it’s a true success story for the ‘American Dream’.

The History of Randolph Engineering Eyewear

Former Royal Air Force navigator, Jan Waszkiewicz, and machinist, Stanley Zaleski, had a vision of creating high quality sunglasses fit for world class fighter pilots. The duo migrated to the US in 1973 where they set up a factory in a small town called Randolph, Massachusetts. The brand flourished, manufacturing more than 200,000 pairs of sunglasses a year, before landing a formal contract with the US military in 1978.

The History of Randolph Engineering Eyewear

Today, it crafts classic styles for everyone, reimagined both as everyday eyewear and sun protection – including those iconic designer aviator sunglasses – while still capturing the fighting spirit of its founders.

A Labour Of Love

The manufacturing process combines high-end tools with the skill and attention to detail you’d expect from handmade frames. A team of 50 experts cut, mould, shape and solder frames over a six-week period in a process that involves the 200 intricate steps behind the brand’s signature style.

Every pair is enhanced using stunning precious metal finishes. The electroplated coating is twice-baked for military-standard durability and scratch protection, while specially designed stainless-steel screws with locking devices ensure they stay in place, meaning frames are robust enough to withstand years of wear.

The company also promises its soldering flux, a chemical that cleans surfaces to remove oxides and impurities, is the best in the industry, resulting in unmatched joint strength.

As you’d expect from sunglasses designed with pilots in mind, they’re durable and you can pick from a range of tints optimised to give you sharp contrast in different environments. Lenses are treated with anti-glare coating, blue wave technology to filter out harmful light from screens, and you can choose premium lenses for enhanced UVA and UVB protection, so you never have to compromise on comfort.
