We Love Maui Jim Sunglasses

Introducing Maui Jim

When we think of Summer, we imagine beaches, sunshine, a warm, tropical breeze, and high quality sunglasses.

Now, we’re bringing all the elements of summer to your doorstep in London, with none other than the award-winning Maui Jim sunglasses.

The Maui Jim Story

The company started off in 1980 selling their Classic Collection of just 7 sunglass styles to the Hyatt and Sheraton hotels in Ka’anapali beach, Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii. They saw the increasing need for technology that could combat the high intensity glare experienced in sunny Hawaii without compromising the user’s view and experience of the island’s natural and vibrant colours.

Thus, the renowned and revolutionary PolarizedPlus2® lens was born. These incredible sunglass lenses block 100% of UV rays and eliminate glare, whilst enhancing colour, clarity and depth perception.

As its popularity spread across other Hawaiian Islands, Maui Jim eyewear expanded to the USA in the early 90s. The rest, as they say, is history. Maui Jim have gone from strength to strength and are now the fastest growing polarised sunglass makers worldwide, with over 105 different frame styles to choose from and a variety of prescription options available.

Their international success has been demonstrated with the likes of actors such as Reese Witherspoon, Olympic gold medallist Michael Phelps and of course, the former President Barack Obama all opting to wear the iconic sunglasses!

Maui Jim boasts both modern and retro frame styles designed with patterns, duo-tones, tortoiseshell and more, to suit every individual and occasion. These are made from only the highest quality lightweight materials such as, high-grade injected nylon, titanium and superior acetate.

However, the unique aspect that sets Maui Jim sunglasses above the rest, is their PolarizedPlus2® lens technology.

Maui Jim Lens Technology

Horizontal glare reflects from any shiny, flat or smooth surface, like large bodies of water, a car bonnet, or snow. This is why the trademark PolarizedPlus2® technology makes Maui Jim eyewear universally appealing whether you’re playing sports, driving or simply relaxing on holiday.

And as if that wasn’t enough, tints to keep you at the height of fashion can also be applied, like the Maui Jim Bi-Gradient Mirror, the MauiGradient®, or mirror tints in blue or rose which can be placed on the Neutral Grey or Maui Rose lenses.

This technology has earned the Skin Cancer Foundation Seal of Recommendation as an effective UV filter for the eyes and surrounding skin.

So, with all these elements  in play, how do Maui Jim sunglasses enhance your vision? The lenses are carefully infused with three rare Earth elements to enhance red, green and blue light waves which increases and balances the saturation of colours we see and filters out those we can’t.

Prescription Eyewear

95% of Maui Jim sunglasses are available as prescription eyewear, manufactured using  a process that produces prescriptions that are 10 times more accurate than those of normal labs and provides the widest field of vision possible.
